Las Vegas headliner, comedian, ventriloquist, singer, and Season Two winner of America’s Got Talent, Terry Fator is on the road with his all-new tour Pure Imagination, with a stop in Lethbridge next month.
Fator, known for his extraordinary blend of comedy, spot-on vocal impressions, and lovable cast of puppets, promises audiences an unforgettable journey deep into the magic of creativity, music, and laughter.
The show celebrates his most iconic characters, including Winston the Impersonating Turtle, Maynard Thompkins, and Vikki the Cougar.
He’s a first-rate comedian, as well as a world-class singer and mimic, able to perform in more than 200 unique celebrity voices, including Elvis Presley, Meghan Trainor, and Elton John.
“It’s the kind of show that just takes you through highs and lows in your emotions. It’ll make you a little bit teary-eyed when Kermit the Frog sings personally to you in the audience. It’s really a fun spectacular show, it truly is,” Fator said.
According to the entertainer, during his headlining years in Las Vegas, he did 200 shows a year for 18 years. “I loved every minute of it, but I just got to the point where I was so limited in being able to take my show all over. I want to travel internationally and there’s so many different things I want to do, and I wasn’t able to do them because I constantly had to get back to Las Vegas.”
Fator hopes to still do nine to 12 shows a year in Las Vegas, but the rest of his time is going to be travelling. “I so enjoy performing in Canada.”
The show incorporates about 30 different characters in one 90-minute show.
“It’s just so many things. It’s hard to describe. It’s a show that me and the audience create together using our imagination,” Fator explained. “I know I have so many great Canadian fans, it’s fantastic and I really love that.”
Live entertainment is one of the most important things we can participate in, Fator noted. “We’re so deluged with AI and with digital and we’re always on phones, iPads, and computers. Everything is taped and on video and there’s just nothing like sitting in a real audience surrounded by real people and you’re all laughing together, and there’s a real human on stage.”
“Not an AI depiction. It’s just a different energy. I think it feeds the soul. I really, really do,” he added.
Aside from being out on the road this year, Fator has also completed a new book, and he’s also working on a Netflix special.
“I’m in the process of writing my Christmas show, so maybe we can get back up there for Christmas. I know Canada is kind of a cold place to go for Christmas. I’m one of those that just loves my holiday show and all my puppets dress in Christmas and holiday themes and it’s all 100 per cent holiday. It’s a totally different show,” Fator said.
