Lethbridge County accepting applications for fall dust suppression

Applications are now being accepted by Lethbridge County for dust suppression on gravel roads this fall.

Applications and payment are due July 12. Late application forms and payments will not be accepted, so crews can stay on schedule and avoid delays.

This is the first year the County is offering this service in the fall.

“After listening to feedback from residents, farming operations, and road users, we heard a need for a longer coverage period that extends into the fall and harvest season, where equipment traffic and dust are at their peak,” the County noted.

Dust suppression is an optional service for residents, businesses, and farms that wish to apply. The cost is the same as the spring intake.

Crews are expected to prepare roads for fall dust suppression in the second half of July, with product application projected to begin Aug. 4, weather permitting.

Intersection and general dust suppression work will be completed at the same time.

County crews will blade through all dust-suppressed roads in late October, as part of its annual winter road preparations. This work is needed to repair road damage, smooth the driving surface for snow removal, and help keep roads safe.

Applications for fall dust suppression are available online at lethcounty.ca/p/dust-suppression.
