Lethbridge housing market records slight sales increase in May

The residential real estate market in Lethbridge is reported to have posted modest gains in May, with home sales edging higher than a year earlier.

Data released by the Lethbridge & District Association of Realtors showed 202 homes sold in the city during the month, a 2.5 per cent increase from May 2025. Of those sales, 154 were single-family homes, accounting for the majority of properties sold during the 31-day period.

Despite gains in May, overall sales activity remains below 2025 levels. Home purchases in Lethbridge were down 11 per cent between January and May compared with the same period in 2025.

According to the association, the surrounding rural market, which includes Lethbridge, Taber, Warner and Newell counties, showed similar trends. A total of 296 properties were sold during the first five months of 2026, down 10 per cent from the same period in 2025.

The report also indicated continued upward pressure on home prices. The average price of a single-family home in Lethbridge reached just over $449,000 in May, up 9.4 per cent from a year earlier.
