Donor mural campaign is LSCO’s way of celebrating community

To celebrate meaningful connections, while supporting vital programs for older adults in the community, the Lethbridge Senior Citizens Organization (LSCO) has announced the launch of its donor mural campaign.

Each contribution allows donors to feature a photo in honour or memory of a loved one, commemorate a milestone, showcase an organization, or reflect a personal connection to the community.

LSCO Executive Director Kaitlynn Weaver said the mural is more than a fundraising initiative.

“It’s a celebration of the people and moments that shape our lives,” she noted. “As we marked our 50th anniversary in 2025, we reflected on the countless stories, meaningful moments, and dedicated community members who have supported the organization over the past five decades. We’re excited to bring those memories together and showcase them through this mural.”

The campaign aims to raise $35,000 in support of LSCO’s programs and services, which promote social connection, wellness, and support for seniors across Lethbridge.

Each donation secures one three-inch by three-inch space on the mural, with options available for multiple photo submissions or custom contributions.

“It’s a mosaic where people can submit photos of themselves or their businesses, like their logos. Then that one square contributes to the whole image,” Weaver explained.

According to Weaver, the project will also look towards the future of the next 50 years for the organization. “It’s a nice way to create a legacy for the LSCO.”

Being created at the entrance to the building, Weaver noted the mural will be a great way to feature the vibrancy of the LSCO. “It will look so pretty. We’re really excited about it.”

So far, the campaign has raised about $3,000 worth of contributed photos, Weaver added.

“Once we start collecting enough photos, we’ll actually put each panel one at a time. We’ll actually be able to showcase to the community how far along we are, and hopefully gain some more interest to complete the image,” she said.

Community members can participate by donating online at lethseniors.com/fundraising, or in-person at the LSCO administrative desk.

The mural is expected to be completed in the fall or winter.
