This year’s Cornstock music festival reportedly was one of the quietest in recent years for the Taber Police Service, with officers responding to six calls for service over the weekend.
Police said they increased staffing and implemented an operational plan in preparation for the annual festival, which organizers said attracts thousands of visitors to the community each year.
The six calls included one report of a suspected impaired driver, two parking complaints, one noise complaint, one abandoned non-emergency 911 call and one report of a misplaced wallet that was returned to its owner.
Officers also issued one Immediate Roadside Sanction to a driver found to be operating a vehicle while impaired.
Police Chief Graham Abela credited festivalgoers, organizers and security staff with helping ensure the event remained safe.
“I could not be happier with the behaviour of those who attended the festival,” Abela said. “The overwhelming majority of attendees were respectful, responsible, and contributed to a safe and enjoyable weekend.”
Abela also praised the event’s security team and Spider Entertainment Group for their planning and organization.
He thanked everyone involved in the festival, saying the co-operation of attendees, volunteers, organizers and workers helped make the weekend a success.
