Students from Lethbridge County have received funding for their post-secondary studies.
They are sharing $8,500 courtesy of two programs facilitated by Lethbridge County.
The County’s annual Post-Secondary Bursary Program saw three students each awarded $1,500. The program celebrates County residents who have a record of outstanding academic achievement and a high degree of involvement in volunteerism or community organizations. Applicants had to submit an essay outlining their high school experience and their plans for the future.
Erin Moorhead, Janna Wiskerke, and Dylan Campbell each received $1,500.
“The scholarship is greatly appreciated as growing up in the County of Lethbridge it has taught me the importance of the people around me. As I plan to pursue a career in PTA/OTA, I plan to bring my education back to the rural community and help make a difference,” Moorhead stated.
“To me, being a winning recipient of the bursary and its funds, shows how Lethbridge County cares for its citizens’ dedication to schooling, and makes me proud to be a member of this wonderful community,” added Campbell.
COMMUNITY BENEFIT SCHOLARSHIP
Janna Wiskerke also received $2,000 under the Community Benefit Scholarship. Jadon Van Raalte is the other recipient through this program.
The initiative is a team-up between Lethbridge County and Potentia Renewables Inc. Stirling Wind Project, with the latter providing the funding.
Applicants had to be current high-achieving high-school students planning to further their education in the field of Science, Technology, Engineering or Mathematics within the following year.
Potential Renewables Inc.’s Stirling Wind Project initiated the scholarship program to invest in the communities where it operates and has 14 turbines in the county.
More details about the scholarship programs are available on the Lethbridge County website.
