Nanton RCMP respond to suspicious person call and discover Cannabis grow operation

A call about a suspicious person on a rural property has resulted in RCMP seizing 250 Cannabis plants from a grow operation near Nanton.

Back on November 13th, Nanton RCMP responded to a rural home near Highway 2 and Township Road 170.

They were told a man had been in a car accident and needed a ride but when officers showed up, the damaged vehicle was unoccupied.

Mounties began looking for the driver and spotted a man matching his description exiting a building on the property.

He left the door open and officers were able to see a large number of mature pot plants inside.

That night RCMP returned to the property and executed a search warrant.

51 year old Leslie Gurr and 36 year old Randle Loree, both of Nanton, are facing several drug-related charges and are due in Fort Macleod Provincial Court in the New Year.

The man involved in the collision was arrested for leaving the scene of an accident and charged with trespassing and several Traffic Safety Act violations.
