Lane closures on Whoop Up Drive will start Thursday night (May 30) as crews begin work on bridge coating.
From 7:00 pm to 5:00 am, one westbound lane and two eastbound lanes will be closed on the bridge deck so barriers can be put in place. During that time, the speed will be down to 50 km/hr.
As of 6:00 am Friday all three westbound lanes will be open but one eastbound lane will remain closed for the rest of the project which will last all summer and into the fall. The speed limit there will stay 50 km/hr.
The City of Lethbridge says the eastbound Whoop-Up Drive bridge was built in 1973 and the coating needs to be replaced to maintain the integrity of the structure.
