On Wednesday, Primary Care Alberta joins Canadians in acknowledging the National Day for Truth and Reconciliation.
It’s a day to remember the children who never returned home and the survivors of residential schools, and to honour the strength, resilience, and enduring cultures of First Nations, Métis, and Inuit.
Supporting culturally grounded and respectful care is an important part of reconciliation.
The Indigenous Support Line is a free telephone service available to First Nations, Métis, and Inuit to help navigate the health care system and connect with culturally grounded care.
The Indigenous Support Line connects callers with Indigenous listeners who provide confidential, culturally informed support, and guidance.
Whether callers need help accessing services, addressing concerns, connecting with Indigenous cultural supports, or finding assistance for mental health and addiction challenges, Indigenous listeners are here to help.
Indigenous listeners can also connect callers with translation services in 23 Indigenous languages, helping reduce barriers to care and ensuring more Albertans can access the support they need.
It’s available Monday to Friday, from 10 a.m. to 6 p.m., at 1-844-944-4744 or through 8-1-1.
