Help-Portrait returns to Casa Nov. 15

A group of professional photographers will be offering free, high-quality family portraits to people in Lethbridge that may not be able to afford a family photo this holiday season.

Help-Portrait is a unique program for individuals and families in need.

Lethbridge and area residents can benefit from the collective professional creativity of more than 40 volunteers, photographers, lighting experts, makeup artists, and stylists.

Event director and professional photographer Steven Layton said every year the impact of this event touches the hearts of the entire city. “We can’t wait to help more people this year.”

Layton noted the group has reached out to a number of community organizations to help explain the Help-Portrait concept.

“We’re confident the people who can benefit from this experience will be able to take advantage of it,” Layton added.

Help-Portrait is a not-for-profit organization formed in 2008 by celebrity photographer Jeremy Cowart, as he contemplated using his skills and expertise to give back to those who may not have the opportunity for a professional photo.

The idea quickly spread through social media and continues to grow.

Participants can attend the event Nov. 15 at Casa in the Community Room from 11 a.m. to 4 p.m.
