All of southern Alberta under burning advisories with heat & dry conditions

LETHBRIDGE, AB – In just a few days pretty much all of southern Alberta is now covered with some type of burning advisory.

Cardston County is the latest to issue an advisory as conditions remain ripe for a wildfire right now.

This region only recorded 17 mm of total rainfall during the entire month of June, coupled with these extremely hot conditions are certainly cause for concern.

The MD of Willow Creek has upgraded its fire advisory to a fire restriction now and Vulcan County is under a complete burning ban.

All fire permits are cancelled in areas with advisories, restrictions, or bans in place.

Officials are warning you to take extreme caution around anything that could spark a fire in these conditions. There is a very good chance that if these conditions continue as forecast, more rural areas may upgrade their advisories or restrictions to all-out fire bans.

A full list of advisories and bans can be found on the Alberta Fire Bans website.
