Taber trio arrested, charged with drug related offences

TABER, AB – Three Taber residents are facing drug charges as the result of an investigation that began about a year ago.

Taber Police say they got information in mid-2020 regarding a drug trafficking group in that community.

Fast forward to last Wednesday evening (July 14) when local officers, with help from ALERT surveillance team members, pulled over a vehicle between Taber and Barnwell.

They seized cash, crack cocaine, cocaine and numerous pills under the Controlled Drugs and Substances Act.

50 year old Tyler Mercer and 26 year old Esther Fehr were each charged with Possession for the Purpose of Trafficking, with Fehr facing two additional counts of Possession of a Controlled Substance.

Both were released from custody to appear in Taber Provincial Court July 27.

61 year old Arthur Doyle Cranston was charged with Possession of a Controlled Substance and operate a Conveyance while Prohibited.

He was also issued an Immediate Roadside Sanction for impairment which carries a 90 day licence suspension, 30-day vehicle seizure and $1,000 fine.

Cranston remains in custody and is due in court Tuesday, July 20.
