LETHBRIDGE, AB – Ground has finally broken on a new affordable housing complex for Lethbridge seniors.
Located along Couleecreek Boulevard south, the new development will include 64 housing units.
It was first announced back in December 2020 with the governments of Canada and Alberta providing about $3.4 million, through the Investment in Affordable Housing Agreement.
The estimated total cost for the project is $12.5 million.

The development will also incorporate a mixed income model allowing residents to pay rent at a rate that makes sense for their individual situation.
Lethbridge Housing Authority Chief Administrative Officer, Robin James, says the layout is also different than any facility they currently have in their portfolio.
She says “it’s a unique project for us because it’s 16 four-plex units … where the seniors can actually live and age in place unlike our high rises that we currently have. So this is allowing seniors, in need of affordable living, to have options.”
New tenants should be moving in by next Spring.
