Coaldale man checks winning $100,000 lotto ticket three months after draw

COALDALE, AB – It’s better late than never for a Coaldale man who took his time checking what ended up being a winning lottery ticket.

Steven Heaton says he drove around for three months with a $100,000 winning LOTTO MAX and EXTRA ticket in his truck before he knew he’d won.

The win came from the July 20 draw but he says he had no idea until he was cleaning his truck and found the ticket in the glove box.

Heaton says he had to scan it a couple of times before he could believe it.

“I was cleaning out my truck one day and found a bunch of lottery tickets I had put in my glove box for safe-keeping. I took a handful of them to the store, scanned this one and was shocked to see it was a $100,000 winner!”

When it comes to plans for the windfall, Heaton says he’ll pay all of his bills and put everything else in the bank.

The winning ticket was purchased at Garden Grove Service in Coaldale.
