Friends of Lethbridge Public Library schedules first book sale in 24 months

LETHBRIDGE AB – After two years of hibernation, the Friends of Lethbridge Public Library are holding a book sale.

The sale will occur at the Main Library on Saturday, January 29th, from 10 a.m. until 4 p.m. and on Sunday, January 30th, from 1 p.m. to 4 p.m. “Truly, there will be more books and DVDs for sale than at any other recent Friends’ sale,” says book sale chair Barb Gibson. “It’s quite exciting.”

The event is a ‘bag sale’ meaning the price of a grocery shopping bag of books is five dollars and the same price for 10 DVD’s. Customers are asked to bring their own shopping bags.

“What is different this time is that covid restrictions set strict limits on the number of people that can shop in any of the rooms at any one time. For that reason, shoppers are strongly encouraged to book their shopping time on Eventbrite,” adds Gibson. Saturday will be open to ticket holders only. On Sunday, individuals with tickets will be able to enter the sale rooms on a priority basis with any remaining space available to walk-in customers. Bookings are for one hour with time periods starting and ending on the hour and there is no cost for tickets.

Children’s books and DVDs for sale include picture books, board books, easy-reader books, and both fiction and non-fiction DVD’s. The adult and young adult fiction includes best sellers, romance, mystery, fantasy, and graphic novels. Adult non-fiction books and a vast selection of DVD’s are also for sale. Most of the items for sale have been deselected from the library’s collections.

Tickets can be found at https://www.eventbrite.ca/e/mega-book-sale-tickets-238900627207.
