Province announces more public consultation for draft K-6 curriculum

The provincial government says it will be taking feedback on the draft K-6 curriculum and social studies design blueprint.

To replace the in-person engagement sessions cancelled last fall, virtual ones will be taking place over the next month. Education Minister LaGrange says the new sessions will enable Albertans to have focused conversations and share specific, constructive feedback on the draft blueprint and subjects they are interested in.

“I encourage Albertans to participate and have their say. The steps we are taking now to listen to additional input will help ensure our elementary students are learning from the best curriculum possible.”

The consultation process will reportedly include at least 44 small group conversations, alongside an online survey to be made available on the Government of Alberta website. The new curriculum for English Language Arts and Literature, Mathematics, and Physical Education and Wellness will be put in place this fall.
