Update: Sexual assault suspect in custody, police looking to identify victim

UPDATE: Amber Khadka, who had an arrest warrant out for two counts of sexual assault, has turned himself into Lethbridge Police. However, Lethbridge Police say they’ve yet to identify the second victim and are concerned there may be additional victims.

Anyone with information is urged to come forward.

Lethbridge Police is looking for the public’s help in tracking down a man charged with sexually assaulting two women in the downtown core.

Police say a warrant has been issued for 44-year-old Amber Bahadur Khadka after his alleged involvement in a pair of assaults in the downtown area on April 25th. Authorities say shortly after 9 p.m. that night, they responded to the 600 block of 8 Street South after a woman reported an unknown male sexually assaulted her while she was outside having a cigarette.

The incident was recorded and caught on surveillance video, and following further investigation, the male was identified. Police say during the course of the initial investigation, they discovered a second woman had been sexually assaulted by the same man after he approached her along the 700 block of 5 Avenue South earlier that day, which was also recorded on video surveillance.

Police say the second victim has not been identified, and there is concern others may have been targeted. Lethbridge Police is urging the woman who was sexually assaulted along the 700 block of 5 Avenue South and any other victims to come forward.
