LPS charge man in relation to internal theft

Lethbridge Police have charged a 27-year-old male in the connection of two incidents of theft from a security company which totalled over $79,000.

LPS ended a lengthy investigation with the arrest of the male without incident after a traffic stop and a 2016 Chevrolet Colorado was seized as possession of the proceeds of crime.

The male, Riley Lance Russell of Lethbridge, was charged in connection with two internal thefts from GardaWold. Russell’s employment was terminated after corporate security discovered the first theft of $50,000 in January of this year.

Further investigating revealed a second theft of more than $29,000 which took place in February.

Russell has been charged with two counts of theft over $5,000 and possession of property, proceeds of crime, over $5,000.

He was released from custody with a court appearance scheduled for February 15, 2023.
