Pincher Creek RCMP warning potential renters of fraud in the area

Pincher Creek RCMP are warning the public of rental property fraud in the area.

RCMP have received reports of fraud relating to residential rentals where allegedly someone is listing a property for rent online and then taking deposits from potential renters.

Police say these properties are not owned by the fraudster and aren’t even rental properties at all, resulting in victims losing their deposit and being without a home.

RCMP are encouraging residents to be cautious when making money transfers to people you don’t know, especially if you have not viewed these properties in person.

Anyone with any information about these frauds or have been a victim, contact the Pincher Creek RCMP at 403-627-6000, should you wish to remain anonymous call Crime Stoppers at 1-800-222-8477 (TIPS).
