Lethbridge College getting set to host Alberta Game Jam for video game developers

Video game developers will be testing their skills at Lethbridge College for Alberta’s first province-wide hackathon-style event.

The college is the southern Alberta host site of “Alberta Game Jam” August 23-25 where participants have just 48 hours to create a new video game from scratch.

College Instructor and Alberta Game Jam Organizer, Allyson Cikor says there are a lot of game developers, students, and hobbyists in the province who are interested in making games but don’t necessarily know how to meet each other and work together.

She says this event will allow people to build those relationships.

Cikor also says it’s a great opportunity for those looking to break into the industry, as the games created often become part of a student’s portfolio of work.

Participants register as individuals and are encouraged to form a team once on site.

Other host locations are in Edmonton and Calgary.
