Picture Butte residents will see bump in water, sewer, garbage costs in January

Those in the Town of Picture Butte will see a bump in the cost of water, sewer and garbage services when they get their January utility bill. The town says the increase is the second of four over three years.

Council voted for the increase back in March, with one of the contributing factors to the decision being future operation costs and the expense of future capital projects to upgrade or replace their services.

” A major capital upgrade that the Town is facing is a legislated requirement to upgrade our lagoon system. This project alone is estimated at $10,000,000.”

According to the Town, they will be applying for grant funding, and if successful, they will need to come up with an additional $4,000,000 to reach their goal.

In January, rates will see a $6.20 bump, bringing the total cost for the three services to $100.95; by 2026, the trio of utility services will cost $113.35.
