The Lethbridge & District Exhibition and chief executive officer Mike Warkentin have parted ways.
This comes as the LDE says it is starting a reorganizing process for continued success of the organization and the Agri-food Hub & Trade Centre.
“Mike Warkentin was the exact leader this organization needed to propel it into the next phase of its history,” says Mark Sayers, president of the LDE board of directors. “His positive energy and progressive vision moved this organization forward and will continue to provide positive effects for generations to come.”
Warkentin joined the LDE in 2018 and became CEO in May 2021 after taking over the role on an interim basis. He helped navigate through the COVID-19 pandemic and was able to secure funding for the construction of the Agri-food Hub & Trade Centre.
The Lethbridge & District Exhibition is facing an uncertain future after asking the city for more funding after ‘unexpected expenses’ in November. After a Nov. 28 meeting, the LDE said its future is ‘uncertain’.
