Weekend deep freeze breaks pair of record lows in Lethbridge

Extreme cold temperatures over the weekend broke two historical weather records in the Lethbridge region.

According to Environment Canada on Friday, January 12th the lowest record temperature was 40.3 degrees Celsius before the windchill, nearly two degrees colder than the previous record for the same day set in 1998 at -38.7 degrees Celsius.

Saturday, January 13th would continue to break records with a recorded low of -41.5 degrees Celsius before the windchill roughly three degrees colder than January 13th, 2005 when the previous record of -38.6 degrees Celsius.
