Lethbridge Police Officer ticketed for failing to yield to pedestrian in crosswalk

A Lethbridge Police officer has been ticketed for failing to yield to a pedestrian in a crosswalk.

The officer was on-duty late Wednesday night and as he left the parking lot of the University Drive Alliance Church, he hit a woman walking in the crosswalk at the intersection of Berkley Place.

Police say the officer tried to brake but couldn’t avoid the collision.

Paramedics were called to check over the 27 year old woman.

She suffered minor injuries and declined a trip to the hospital.

The incident was witnessed by one member of the public and two other police officers.

A ticket was issued for failing to yield to a pedestrian in a crosswalk which carries a mandatory penalty of $776 and four demerit points.
