Rainfall warning in place for Southern Alberta

Parts of Southern Alberta, including the Lethbridge region, are under a rainfall warning.

According to Environment Canada, heavy rain is forecasted to start Monday night and continue into Tuesday night.

According to the warning put out at 4:35 a.m. Monday, May 6th “Widespread rainfall totals of 50 to 70 mm are likely. Locally higher amounts of 80 mm or more are possible.”

The heavy rain could cause flash floods, water pooling on roads and possible localized flooding in low-lying areas. Environment Canada is also advising people watch for washouts near rivers, creeks and culverts.

Things are expected to taper off on Wednesday.
