LPS seize over $40K worth of drugs after locating allegedly stolen truck

A 43-year-old Lethbridge man has been charged with trafficking offences after he was found in possession of a stolen truck. Lethbridge Police seized over $40,000 worth of drugs. 

On June 6, members of the Canine Unit were on patrol along the 500 block of 7 Street. They identified a dark blue truck that had been reported as stolen June 1 and took the male driver into custody.  

A search of the vehicle incidental to the arrest resulted in the seizure of 123.1 grams of fentanyl or 1231 street doses, 27.7 grams of cocaine or 27 street doses and 324.2 grams of methamphetamine or 2872 street doses. The combined street value of the drugs is estimated to be over $40,000. In addition, police seized $1,720 in cash proceeds of crime, multiple knives, a baton and bear spray. 

Greg Petryga is charged with three counts of possession of a controlled substance for the purpose of trafficking, one count of possession of stolen property over $5,000, one count of possession of the proceeds of crime and three counts of breach of undertaking. Petryga is currently being held for a Judicial Interim Release hearing.
