The 8th annual Reuse Rendezvous goes this weekend.
The initiative is hosted by Environment Lethbridge and gives city residents a chance to give away unwanted, gently used items to their friends and neighbours.
Executive Director Kathleen Sheppard says this is a perfect opportunity to declutter and pass along things you no longer need. At the same time, people can find new-to-you items from others.
Reuse Rendezvous continues to grow with over 400 households registering last year alone. This year’s registrations are on pace to exceed that number as well. Sheppard says although it is difficult to accurately determine the amount of items that are exchanged during Reuse Rendezvous, survey results estimate than over 1400 boxes of smaller items and nearly 750 larger items, such as furniture, were given away in 2018.
Residents should place items marked “free” in front of their homes starting Friday evening (Sept. 6). The annual event will wrap up on Sunday (Sept. 8).
