Lethbridge Police continue to investigate fatal Canada Day collision

Lethbridge Police are investigating a fatal collision that claimed the life of a 28-year-old Lethbridge man.

On July 1, at just after 10 p.m., police responded to a report of a collision between a black motorcycle and a white Honda Civic at the intersection of Mayor Magrath Drive South and 9 Avenue South.

The motorcycle, travelling northbound on Mayor Magrath Drive South, collided with a white Honda Civic making a left turn into the parking lot of Nikka Yuko Japanese Gardens. Investigation determined speed was a factor in the collision.

The passenger of the Civic, a 39-year-old female from Lethbridge, was transported to the Chinook Regional Hospital with non-life-threatening injuries.

The rider of the motorcycle, a 28-year-old man from Lethbridge, suffered severe injuries and died on scene. His body has been transported to the Calgary Medical Examiner’s Office.

The investigation is ongoing
