Brothers arrested in connection to $20K drug seizure in Medicine Hat

Two brothers are facing drug trafficking charges connected to a significant seizure in Medicine Hat.

According to the Alberta Law Enforcement Response Team, officers based in Medicine Hat seized a variety of drugs including meth, cocaine and opioids that are estimated to have a street value of $20,000. Along with the drugs police also seized over $4,000 cash and several weapons, including replica handguns. With the help of Medicine Hat Police officers, the bother duo was arrested on August 7th.

Carter and Ethan Oster are facing several drug-related charges.

ALERT Medicine Hat Sargent Curt Nieman says following an investigation that began in May of this year, police believe the 24-year-old and 21-year-old were actively trafficking drugs throughout the community.

“Opioids and organized crime go hand-in-hand and irrevocably harm our communities,” Nieman says.

The brothers are in custody and are awaiting their next court appearance.
