Two candidates have put their names forward to run for a position on Lethbridge County Council.
At the close of the nomination period for the Division 5 by-election, David Bishop and Kevin Slomp have both submitted nomination papers and will run in the by-election.
The Division 5 seat became available earlier this summer after the resignation of Eric Van Essen, who moved out of the division and was therefore no longer eligible to retain the position under the Municipal Government Act. Division 5 is in the northwest portion of Lethbridge County and includes the Hamlet of Monarch.
Voting will be held Sept.9 at the Monarch Community Hall.
Advance voting will take place at the County’s Lethbridge Administration Office Sept. 7. Only those residents living in Division 5 are eligible to vote in the by-election.
