On Saturday the last students to graduate from Lethbridge College will walk the stage for the 2024 Fall Convocation.
According to Lethbridge Polytechnic officials, the roughly 170 graduating students expected to walk the stage Saturday will be the last to receive a parchment from Lethbridge College. According to a release from school officials, over 500 students are graduating this fall and receiving either a degree, diploma, certificate or apprenticeship credentials.
Registrar for Lethbridge Polytechnic Marko Hilgersom, explains convocation is always an exciting time around the campus because it is a time for students to celebrate their achievements.
“Saturday’s ceremony will be extra special, as we are also recognizing the final class to ever graduate from Lethbridge College, so it’s going to be a great day,” Hilgersom says.
The fall class will be the last Lethbridge College class because as of the beginning of September, the school transitioned from a college to a polytechnic.
The University of Lethbridge will also be holding its fall convocation this weekend, with 205 students expected to cross the stage and 303 students graduating from the school. As well the university will be handing out an honorary degree to Elder Ninnaispistoo “Owl Chief” Francis First Charger.
The Lethbridge College event will start at 10 a.m. Saturday in the Val Matteotti Gymnasium and can be live-streamed on the school’s website.
The U of L program also is scheduled to begin at 10 a.m. in the Val Matteotti Gymnasium. More information including the ceremony’s live stream can be found on the school’s website.
