A $750 cash prize is up for grabs with the 2024/2025 Analog Prize.
Submissions are now open for the Analog Books celebration of excellence in short story fiction writing at the secondary school level in southern Alberta.
Launched last year, the Analog Prize is a short story writing competition open to Grades 9-12 students. The prize is richer this year with $750 to first place and $100 to three runners-up.
Prize money is sponsored by University of Lethbridge Chancellor Terry Whitehead and an anonymous Lethbridge donor. Additionally, Analog Books will award four $100 gift certificates to the finalists.
The Analog Prize intends to inspire and motivate young writers to consider pursuing a future as Canadian literary artists.
“Motivating young southern Alberta writers to express themselves creatively is so important and the leadership of Scott and Penny and the entire team at Analog Books is needed and very much appreciated,” says Whitehead.
“From bedtime stories to fairy tales to essays, short stories have been an integral part of our lives. We look forward to inspiring a new generation of storytellers through the Analog Prize,” adds Penny Warris, co-owner of the downtown Lethbridge store.
