Lethbridge Transit, partners sleigh the season for Christmas Hope

Lethbridge Transit is lighting up the holiday season with a bus that’s decked to the halls in twinkling Christmas lights, as it spreads festive cheer all over town.

Teaming up with community partners, the Holiday Bus will be parked outside a number of holiday events throughout the season, inviting community members to drop off donations to support the Christmas Hope campaign.

“We really wanted to find a way to give back to the community this season in a fun and festive way,” says Joseph Bompiani, Operations manager of Lethbridge Transit. “We’re thrilled to team up with the community partners this holiday season to provide this opportunity for residents to come together and make a difference.”

The Christmas Hope campaign is a collaboration comprised of six local agencies working to ensure the less-fortunate members of the community get everything they need to feel hope and joy during the Christmas season.

Community members and event attendees are encouraged to contribute to the Christmas Hope campaign by bringing donations of non-perishable food items and/or unwrapped new toys. These contributions will go directly toward making the holidays brighter for those who could use an extra hand.

Catch the Lethbridge Transit Holiday Bus at the following local holiday events throughout December:

  • VisitLethbridge.com Arena at the Hurricanes/Red Deer Rebels game Dec. 13 from 5-7 p.m.
  • Nikka Yuko Japanese Garden’s Winter Light Festival Dec. 15 and Dec. 19 from 5-9 p.m.
  • Lethbridge and District Exhibition’s Glow Lethbridge event Dec. 21 and Dec. 23 from 5-9 p.m.

“We’re excited to welcome the Holiday Bus to our events and support those in need this holiday season,” adds Jennifer Norsworthy, acting general manager of the VisitLethbridge.com Arena. “The bus brings such a festive feeling to the arena and really helps add to the holiday spirit.”

“The Holiday Bus is such a great initiative and Glow Lethbridge is thrilled to join the City and our partners from throughout the city in hosting it,” says Paul Kingsmith, director of community engagement at Lethbridge and District Exhibition. “This holiday season we have teamed up to promote numerous charitable organizations at Glow Lethbridge and we’re proud to add the Holiday Bus and Christmas Hope to that list. We know the bus will be an exciting addition for our guests.”

As an added incentive to donate, Lethbridge Transit holly and jolly helpers will be handing out free candy canes and opportunities to win a 30-day free transit pass.
