A Lethbridge couple is going into the holiday season a little more jolly after winning $1 million off a scratch-off ticket.
Catherine and Darcy Fritz won the money off a $5 SET FOR LIFE Scratch and Win ticket that Darcy bought his wife for her birthday.
“Darcy didn’t know what to get me for my birthday, so he bought the ticket while filling up at the gas station,” Catherine Fitz says. “I looked at the rules on the back of the ticket and said I hoped I would get three of a kind and win a smaller prize.
According to the couple when Catherine realized she had won, they took the ticket to the store to scan and confirm they had won.
The couple immediately took the ticket to the store to scan it and confirm the win. The couple plans to use the money to complete renovations on their home and share it with their family.
“It’s amazing,” Catherine says. “It still hasn’t sunk in!”
Her husband echoed her thoughts saying he still can’t believe it.
The winning ticket was bought from the Canadian Tire Gas Bar on Lethbridge’s north side.
