Police say there are no active threats following Wednesday incident in Taber

Taber Police officials say they believe there is no risk to the community at this time in connection to an incident early this week.

According to police around 10:45 p.m. Wednesday, officers received reports about a man between 30-40 years old who made what officials call concerning comments to two youths. Police say the comments were not about a specific school but made an inference about a school in the Horizon School Division. This made what was said concerning enough for both school division officials and officers to take precautionary steps.

Police investigated the incident and report they took a local man into custody under the Mental Health Act and took him to a designated facility for evaluation. Officers report there is no evidence at this time of anything criminal and there are no active threats to the schools.

No more information will be released at this time as it is believed to be a personal medical matter.
