Over 20 local amateur wrestlers hit the mat in southern Alberta last weekend.
Members of the Lethbridge Amateur Wrestling Association, ranging from six to 18-years-old, competed at the Cardston Cougar Invitational. The event was hosted at Cardston High School on Friday, January 17 and Saturday, January 18.
Lethbridge was well-represented, with many placements and medals won.

“It was awesome to see our organization represented across such a large age group,” says coach and association president Riley Ellis-Toddington.
“Not only did our athletes represent at the highest levels but also those new to the sport got a chance to compete for the very first time. We hope having multi-age group tournaments such as that put on by Cardston will become the norm and promote our sport both regionally and nationally.”
The LAWA has been active in the community since 1991 and offers training and coaching for those aged six and older.
