Power of Galentine’s to support local YWCA programs

For a seventh year GirlGang Kindness YQL will be celebrating Galentines Day by raising funds to support local YWCA programs.

CEO for YWCA Lethbridge and District Jill Young the support from the organization has been invaluable, with last year’s event alone raising a record amount of funding.

“Those dollars go directly into our operations to support all of our programs and the work that we do and it is imperative these types of events and supports from community members are there to help us sustain for the long term,” Young says. “We value and treasure their support year over year and the dedication that GirlGang actually shows for the YWCA and the work that we do is just so humbling.”

She says the galentine’s day event itself highlights a lot of ideas that the YWCA stands for and supports including women supporting women and women helping women.

“What Galentine’s represents, what Girl Gang represents is that power that women can bring to a community, to anywhere. You know there are so many different changing landscapes in our world right now and it is so important that the message of solidarity and women empowerment continues on because there are a lot of pieces that are still unknown right now.”

Seated tickets for the Thursday night event sold out in two days, with standing room still available.
