Lethbridge man charged in connection with sexual assault of a child

A Lethbridge man faces charges in connection with a sexual assault.

Police say on Monday, February 10, officers responded to a report that an 11-year-old boy has been sexually assaulted by a man at Stan Siwik Pool. The LPS alleges that the man approached the boy in the men’s change room and proceeded to assault him.

The suspect, 66-year-old Quan Phuoc Tran, was arrested on Tuesday, February 11. He is charged with sexual assault and sexual interference.

Tran was released from custody on conditions that block him from going to Stan Siwik Pool and any other public park, swimming area, daycare, school ground, playground or community centre where people 18-years-old or under might be present.

He is also banned from having any contact with the victim and any other child under 18 except if they are an immediate family member.

A court appearance for Tran has been set for Tuesday, March 25.

Police say their investigation has led them to believe there might be more victims.

Anyone who has any information, or who may have had a similar interaction with the suspect, is asked to call LPS at 403-328-4444 and reference file 25002388.
