Kodiaks women’s volleyball signs first recruit

The Lethbridge Polytechnic Kodiaks women’s volleyball team has secured its first recruit for the 2025-26 season, signing Robyn Rivard, an opposite hitter from Calgary’s Ace Volleyball Club.

Officials say Rivard reached out to the coaching staff during her U17 year. The film she presented impressed the coaches, fitting the mold of what they were looking for. She was then invited to practices with the team during her U18 season, where she had the chance to meet the other student-athletes and play in front of the coaching staff.

The Kodiaks say she impressed coaches with her ability to follow gameplay and instructions, and her aggressive approach on third contact lined up with the team’s playing style, as they prioritize this in their game strategy.

Kodiaks Head Coach Anna Schwark says Rivard brings maturity in her communication and play. “I don’t feel she presents herself as a first-year player, so I hope to see her come in with confidence and be a leader and just continue to work hard,” states Schwark.

The team says its goal moving forward is to build a competitive squad capable of earning a spot in the 2025-26 ACAC Championship

In the classroom, Rivard will begin her studies in the Automotive Systems certificate program this fall.
