Kodiaks women’s volleyball team signs local standout

A local high school volleyball standout has signed with the Lethbridge Polytechnic Kodiaks for the 2025-26 season.

Alexis Davenport currently attends Chinook High School and plays for the Lethbridge Volleyball Club. Coaches and staff with the Kodiaks scouted the middle while she competed in her U17 season.

“I was very impressed by the improvements I saw from the start of school ball to the end of club,” says Kodiaks head coach Anna Schwark. “I enjoyed how she was able to remain competitive on the court while also having a positive demeanor with her teammates.”

Davenport says the community focus provided by the Kodiaks piqued her interest to play for the team, with Lethbridge being her hometown. She says she connected with her future teammates quickly and knew the local post-secondary was the right fit for her, with the competitive nature of the Alberta Colleges Athletic Conference being another factor in her decision to sign.

“I just want to bring positivity to the team as well as team spirit,” says Davenport. “On top of that, I’m looking forward to getting closer with the girls and forming a good team connection.”

“I am very excited to see Alexis grow as an athlete but also as a person outside of the gym,” adds Schwark. “We are so excited to retain a local athlete like Alexis and I am excited to see how her Lethbridge community supports her in her next steps as an athlete.”

In the classroom, Davenport will start in Lethbridge Polytechnic’s General Arts and Science program in the fall.
