Hurricanes to battle Hitmen in second round of 2025 WHL playoffs

The Hurricanes are off to the second round of the 2025 Western Hockey League playoffs.

Lethbridge dispatched the Brandon Wheat Kings 5-2 on Friday night at the VisitLethbridge.com Arena to win their first-round series 4-1.

Next in the Hurricanes’ sights are the Calgary Hitmen, who swept the Saskatoon Blades in the first-round.

This will mark the first time since the 2019 WHL Playoffs that the teams meet in the post-season. That year, Lethbridge was bested by Calgary in seven games.

In five prior playoff series, the Hurricanes are 1-4 against the Hitmen. Their only series win came in the Eastern Conference Championships in 2008.

During the 2024-25 regular season, Lethbridge posted a record of 2-5-1-0 against Calgary.

The second round series schedule is as follows:

  • Game One – Thursday, April 10 at 7 p.m. (Scotiabank Saddledome, Calgary)
  • Game Two – Saturday, April 12 at 6 p.m. (Scotiabank Saddledome, Calgary)
  • Game Three – Tuesday, April 15 at 7 p.m. (VisitLethbridge.com Arena, Lethbridge)
  • Game Four – Wednesday, April 16 at 7 p.m. (VisitLethbridge.com Arena, Lethbridge)

If necessary, game five is scheduled for Friday, April 18 at 7 p.m. in Calgary, with game six slated for Saturday, April 19 in Lethbridge.

A potential game seven would be in Calgary, but the Hurricanes say a date and time for that game would be announced at a later date.
