Lethbridge’s Justin Thomson to represent Canada at mini rifle world shoot

Local athlete and accomplished sport shooter Justin “J.T.” Thomson is set to represent Canada at the first-ever International Practical Shooting Confederation PCC/Mini Rifle World Shoot, to be held in the Czech Republic May 12–25.

The prestigious event occurs every three to four years, akin to the Olympics for practical shooting disciplines.

Thomson’s journey to the world stage is a story of passion, perseverance and dedication. A lifelong resident of Lethbridge, he has been a proud member of the Lethbridge Fish and Game Association for over 15 years and is actively involved with the Chinook Country Shooting Club and IPSC Alberta.

During the IPSC Alberta match season from May to October, he competes in two matches nearly every weekend, often travelling to other provinces and the United States, going through an estimated 12,000 rounds of ammunition annually.

In 2024, Thomson achieved a career milestone as a member of Team Alberta, which won the Handgun Production Optics Team Division at the IPSC Canadian Nationals.

His consistent performance earned him the second spot on Canada’s four-person national team heading to the upcoming PCC World Shoot.

Thomson will continue to compete nationally this summer at the 2025 IPSC Canadian Handgun Nationals, hosted in Taber.
