Alberta Health Services is advising the public of a confirmed case of measles in southern Alberta with exposure in Lethbridge, Taber and Coaldale between April 20th and 29th.
According to AHS, anyone who was at the Coaldale Health Centre Ambulatory Clinic on April 20th between 5:30 and 10:30 p.m. or April 25th between 6:05 p.m. and 9:07 p.m. are being advised of possible exposure. The individual is said to have also been in the Taber Walmart on April 26th between 3 p.m. and 5:30 p.m., the Movie Mill in Lethbridge on April 27th between 6:50 p.m. and 10 p.m., and the Hudson’s Bay in Lethbridge on April 29th between 5 p.m. and 7:30 p.m.
Anyone who was in any of these areas when there was exposure and was born in or after 1970 with less than two documented doses of the measles vaccine is said to be at risk of developing the illness. Officials advise monitoring for symptoms and staying home if any develop.
Symptoms of measles can include a fever, cough, runny nose, red eyes and a blotchy red rash that shows up three to seven days after the fever starts. If you are showing symptoms, health officials say you should stay home and contact Health Link at 811.
