Phishing scam targeting arts organizations, including the Allied Arts Council of Lethbridge

Beware of scammers. There’s a phishing scam targeting arts organizations across the province, including the Allied Arts Council of Lethbridge.

According to the AAC, scammers claim to sell a list of the organization’s members with thousands of emails. “We do not have a list, nor would we ever sell a list to the general public,” states a recent AAC social media post.

“Please note, members who have opted into participating in our Arts Directory are publicly displayed on our website free to the public.”

“AAC staff will never contact you via email to directly request money or sensitive information out of the blue.”

“If you receive an email that seems suspicious, it’s likely a scam.”

If something feels “phishy,” contact the AAC at [email protected].

“We love and appreciate your donations that help us better serve the community. Just be sure it’s via the proper channel,” says the post.
