Registration now open for the Southern Alberta Summer Games

Registration for all Southern Alberta Summer Games events is now open, which will be held in Taber July 2-5. Registration deadline is June 5.

Lethbridge residents are eligible and invited to join Team Lethbridge to participate in the games. There is a registration fee for local athletes, which allows athletes to participate in up to three different sports and/or activities. The fee also includes a competitor T-shirt.

Some of the sports included in this year’s competition include Esports, Pickleball, Photography, Air Gun Rifle and Archery, Ball Hockey and Trap Shooting.

Lethbridge Sport Council Executive Director Susan Eymann invites families from across Lethbridge to join in grassroots competition. “Where everyone, no matter their age or skill level, can play, connect and make new friends in a welcoming atmosphere.”

Regional Director for Team Lethbridge Olivia Olivieri says there are about 24 sports being offered. “A lot of different options this year.”

The goal this year for Team Lethbridge, Olivieri notes, is to have 325 athletes. “We’re currently just over 90, so registration has been strong.”

“We hope to keep increasing that over the next few weeks until registration closes,” she adds.

The Games really bring together the community, families and friends and get everybody involved in sport, Olivieri explains. “There’s so much benefit to that. Between the community and being active within your community – those are the best things.”

There’s also a Team Lethbridge Facebook page to follow the group and cheer on your local athletes at www.facebook.com/SouthernABSummerGames.

To register, check out southernalbertasummergames.ca and select the City of Lethbridge.
