Recent targeted enforcement operation removes 1,000+ doses of drugs from Lethbridge streets

The most recent targeted enforcement operation in Downtown Lethbridge resulted in the 20 criminal charges being laid and over 1,000 doses of meth, fentanyl and cocaine being taken off the street.

On May 21st members of the Downtown Policing Unit, Crime Suppression Team, Property Crimes Unit, Community Peace Officers, and our partners with the Alberta Sheriffs SCAN team were part of the operation and executed 33 outstanding warrants. Officers also recovered stolen property from two separate incidences of shoplifting.

While police were out in the community police engaged with those who were out in the community by answering questions, addressing concerns and making people aware of their presence.

According to Lethbridge Police Officials, the operation will continue throughout 2025, with both uniformed and covert officers working to target criminal activity in the area and also address negative behaviours in the city centre. When the teams are in the area, businesses and visitors in the downtown area can expect to see a heightened police presence as officers work to actively target high frequency offenders and areas with high volumes of crime.
