First reading of a traffic bylaw to increase parking rates and fines in Lethbridge has been delayed until the new year.
That first reading had originally been scheduled for the Nov. 12th council meeting.
But Councillor Jeffrey Coffman, who brought forward a motion Monday (Oct. 28), says parking will be undergoing an operational review in January and that Council should wait until after that review is complete to change the bylaw.
He notes council members might decide to go in a different direction after seeing the results of that review.
It’s been recommended the City increase parking rates by a few cents an hour and raise parking tickets from the current $25 to $40 in order to increase compliance.
