A 43 year old Lethbridge man has been taken to hospital after he was hit while walking along Highway 25 Monday night (Nov. 18)
RCMP and EMS were called out around 7:00 pm to reports of a collision between a vehicle and pedestrian near Township Road 92.
Coaldale RCMP Staff Sergeant, Glenn Henry says the pedestrian was walking northbound on the highway, was hit by a pick up truck, and thrown into the ditch. “The pedestrian was wearing dark clothing at the time. It was dark outside and there was no artificial lighting along the highway at that point on the road. Conditions were clear and the road was dry.”
Henry says RCMP have also ruled out any liquor consumption on the part of either the 22 year old driver of the truck or the pedestrian.
Henry says all possible factors are being looked into.
A Lethbridge based RCMP traffic reconstructionist was called to the scene to assist in the investigation. Highway 25 was blocked and had restricted access for about three hours then re-opened to regular traffic.
The man who was hit was taken to Chinook Regional Hospital with non life-threatening injuries.
