Latest census shows Taber continues to grow steadily

TABER, AB – Taber’s population has grown to 8,711 residents, according to its 2020 census results.

The Town says that’s a 3.9% increase, compared to the 2015 census, and equates to a 0.79% annual increase.

The latest data indicates that the average household is 2.75 residents, most people speak English as their primary language, followed by German and Tagalog, and children and seniors make up the largest portion of the population.

There are also slightly more women – 3,589 – than men – 3,455 – in Taber, while another 0.13% of respondents chose “other gender identity”, an option that was made available for the first time ever.

The 2020 Taber census reported a near-perfect response rate, as well, at 99.2%.
