Temporary cold trailer on site at CRH to allow for upgrades to morgue

LETHBRIDGE, AB –  Work is underway to upgrade the morgue at Chinook Regional Hospital.

Alberta Health Services says renovations will improve the facility’s infrastructure as the current refrigerated unit was built in 1988.

Officials say the aging equipment was becoming increasingly difficult to repair as some replacement parts are no longer available.

Preliminary work began in December and full construction started this month so a temporary, climate controlled trailer has been set up at the hospital until renovations are complete in the spring.

AHS says this trailer is NOT related to its COVID-19 response.
